Live TV Playing In Slow Motion on Apple TV 4k

Why not use the beta? Ive been on the beta for years....

Wow, that does not feel like an endorsement of the application.

Typically Beta's are less stable than Production versions. I guess Channels is backwards from standard/best practices.

The bigger question should be "why do you need to use the Beta version?"

Think of it this way, i have a way to get my issues fixed faster and get relief from this issue immeaditely. I can roll back to an earlier beta if something breaks. Or i can yse the released client if something is really bad. (Ive never had to do this in the last 5 years)

All fixes make it into the released version, its just a matter of timing. So while you wait wouldnt it be easier to try the beta rather than complain?

"Complaining" is about letting the developer know there is a problem, and in the absence of any communications from the developer people will continue to ask. Should we not have an expectation for a production version that works, or should users just role over and accept the defective release(s)?

New potential users should be aware too that the solution is flawed. That does not get advertised and yet this issue has been ongoing for far too long.

So, "think of it this way", customers should have some level of communications on what is happening, when it will be fixed, and it should be something people can believe/trust. The answer should not be that everyone should use a Beta version because Production does not work.

Whatever floats your boat. In my boat we watch trouble free appletv

I do on the HDHomeRun.

...with worse deinterlacing. And less guide data. And an interface from the stone age.

Took 2 seconds to find a reddit thread where HDHR client users get excited about Channels' hardware deinterlacing, which is at the heart of this issue, and very much linked to Apple's tvOS/hardware.

Anyway - please either heed the devs ask for help here, or just wait. Complaining isn't helping anyone. I would help myself, but I haven't had a long-running live HDHR session in a while.

I m helping, by pointing out that they apparently are to focused on Apple's tvOS/hardware and not accepting that they are doing something wrong. Tell me how the following applications are not experiencing the same issues, just Channels?

  • Netflix
  • Disney
  • Prime
  • Paramount
  • CBS, NBC, ABC, CTV, CBC, Global
  • YouTube
  • Crave
  • oh, and HDHomeRun

All these apps work for long plays, only Channels has issues starting at 60+ minutes. From the long list of people having installed the Beta and running TestFlight, one extra isn't going to make the difference, especially when the dev's are blaming Apple instead of wondering why others are not having the same issues.

Good for you at finding a Reddit thread that is excited about how they can pick a show to watch. Shame that after they pick the show to watch, they can't actually enjoy watching it.

BTW, there wouldn't be so many complaint responses if people such as yourself stopped coming up with poor excuses and distractions from what is clearly a flawed version of the application.

Geez man just run the freaking beta or move on. I use the beta as main and have for almost 3 years now, very rarely do I have an issue that causes me to revert back to prod.

Your choice.

This is crazy already. I am simply don't understand why the Dev's don't push the Beta into Prod. I have seen Maddox push out same day fixes MANY times here and honestly the support here has always been fantastic! Not sure what the root cause is for the drastic change in support is but it is not a good look for what is a FANTASTIC product. Simply push the Beta into Prod and note (**improved slow motion on Apple TV 4K functionality) which is what the general consensus seem to be. It helps, perhaps not 100% fix but much improved. Should settle the masses here and also note **we continue to work towards a 100% fix.
Thank you Channels Team

No, it's not crazy. They decide when to promote, not any of us.

OMG YES!!!!!!

This is not freeware that you get what you pay for and can not complain, this is paid software that some of us have been paying for for years and should not have to install TestFlight and use a beta version because the production version that we are paying for does not work.

100% agreed. If this was an open source product it would be totally different. We all pay a subscription for this which includes support. As stated before, support has historically been awesome! I love the product which is why I hate to see this drag on.

@schneideris What happens when you change your Deinterlacing setting to Linear?

I get your point but you guys are making a mountain out of a molehill. They decide when it goes production, not any of us. The workaround RIGHT NOW is the beta and you guys are whining about a very trivial exercise to fix your issue.

Not to mention that it's $80 a year you're complaining about, that's basically dinner at a reasonable place. Get a grip.

Note that I'm not saying that people shouldn't complain about open issues, but when they've been fixed in beta and you don't want to install beta that's on you. You just need to wait patiently and stop complaining.
