Live TV Playing In Slow Motion on Apple TV 4k

Multiple time a day the video of the OTA channel will go into slow motion, the audio is still normal, when I select back is says it look like you are behind the timeline, this just started happening a few weeks ago, no issues for years before this.

Same here. It happens for me after about 1 hour. The video slows and gets choppy. This is from my HDHR, and so I chekced video from it directly, and it is always good.

When it happens, I have to go back to the On Now, then back into the original channel.

Same here. same device. For me I can simply jump back/forward 30 seconds and everything is good again (until the next time). Running tvOS 26.4, but I'm pretty sure it happened on .3 as well. Not sure prior to that.

Happening for me with ATV4K (3rd gen), HDHomeRun extend, HomePods for audio. Running latest version on all devices tvOS26.4

I have been seeing this every once in a while from my HDHR channels, not super often but probably 2-3x a week. Latest Apple TV 4K, tvOS 26.4. No HomePods. I'll send diagnostics next time it happens.

Happening for me too. HDHR (not so much slow motion, but fast stuttering that kind of appears as slow motion), latest AppleTV & all software up-to-date. Sometimes if I leave it for a bit (maybe a minute) it'll come good, otherwise changing channels and back again also fixes it.

I experience this too! Always wondered. I just stopped and started the stream again but it always comes back.

We'll need all of you to submit diagnostics right after this happens.

Please go to Settings -> Support -> Submit Diagnostic Logs from your device and let us know when it's been submitted so we can have a better idea of what was going on.

Like everyone else im seeing this too I have the HDHomerun app installed as well and have been running it to see if it happens on there too so far it has not after 8 hours now not the slightest hint of an issue I wanted to eliminate a recent hardware update to the HDHomerun as being a possible culprit so far no issues, I did notice that this issue started about a month ago and noticed that there was a new update to the Channels program about the same time hopefully this info will help narrow down the possibilities . Something that was mentioned on the HDHomerun forum was that the AppleTV continuous audio setting was causing some issues so I turned that off to see if it was maybe the culprit it didn't change the issue on Channels which is where this occurs and lastly I have Emby installed and checked it in the Live Tv with no issues experienced there either I hope this helps will try to get the log and send to you if you need me too in addition to everyone else's

Is this only happening on TVOS 26.4?

I know that I was seeing it on 26.3, and also now with 26.5 beta 1

@Wangbo You're running into intermittent signal reception issues. You'll have to adjust your antenna to fix those.

I was unable to reproduce the issue after playing Live TV for 6 hours. There's something specific going on with these setups that we haven't been able to identify yet.

I find it interesting that it does it on my AppleTV but not on my Iphone or my Mac book Pro which i tested after posting so it is something with the update on both the AppleTV 26 series and the 7.0.2 channels update because my antenna has not been moved from before to now but yet the issue started after the update and sat and watched constantly for a hour watching to see if there were any glitches etc didn't see any just observed the gradual degradation of the picture and audio sync separation so if signal loss is the cause it is so minute and fast its not easily observed but it should have affected the iphone and Mac Book pro as well shouldn’t it have ?

It theoretically should, but the video driver interacts differently on tvOS with HDMI compared to the phone and laptop with a built-in display. We're still trying to investigate if there is anything we can do about any of these issues reported, but we know there are limits to what we can fix with glitches in the video.

I don't think this is reception-related, at least not for me. When I jump back 30 seconds, everything I just watched in slow-mo-frame-skippy-style plays back perfectly so I know the signal was clean when it entered the buffer. This is straight off the HDHomeRun btw, I'm not sharing tuners so the DVR server shouldn't be a factor. I'll try to take video of it next time it happens.

@mhamdingo a video and diagnostics right after it happens will be helpful in understanding what's happening.

If you have it set to Original Quality Stream it goes through the DVR.
Original Quality Direct goes direct to the HDHR.

Seeing this exact same behavior after the installing the 26.4 update. First hour is fine, after that audio continues, but video gets very laggy.

I was unaware of that - I just set it as "direct" in my server-side overrides just in case. However since anyone in the house watching live tv does not show up in server status (it remains idle), does that count as confirmation that it was already using direct?
