Connecting to my DVR through a web browser (Safari), i can play recorded content fine. However, trying to play a TV channel live it’ll begin buffer (at much lower x factor than for recorded content but over 1.1x) but it’ll never start playing. i’m using safari, any ideas on how to get things going?
Are there any errors shown on the Log tab?
Does using a different browser like Chrome work? Are you using Safari on the same machine or from somewhere else?
well, in the log, for the stream attempts all i’m seeing is an entry for “starting” and a subsequent one for “stopping” but nothing indicating any sort of error. the buffer appears to be working as under the video preview window i see the stats showing more time in the buffer, and a transcode rate, but in the preview window the circle just spins and video never starts.
i must admit, i should have tried a different browser before i posted originally but in my haste i didn’t. i have attempted to do it in Chrome and my first attempt it did play, but also at a pretty low rate compared to the rate i’m getting for recorded content.
so maybe it appears to be a safari issue?
Yea sounds like there’s some sort of bug in the web player/transcoder that’s affecting Safari.
It’s normal to see a 1x rate for live tv, since it’s a live feed you can’t go any faster than 1x.
duh on the 1x thing
yeah, now safari isn’t even showing stats, just blank and on one channel it still all the sudden started playing even without any stats showing underneath that anything was even happening.
guess i’ll use Chrome and let you worry about more important things
