I've downloaded a few videos from YouTube and added them to my Local library. When Channels plays them, on either Apple TV or iPhone, the audio's fine, but there's no video. I can play them OK on my iMac, either clicking in Finder or through the Channels Admin page (Library). I ran a couple through HandBrake, and that fixed the problem. I'm pretty sure some others that I've previously downloaded from YouTube have played OK without using HandBrake. DVR is running on a Mac mini 2012; does that matter?
What does View Details on the web UI show for the ones that dont work
The one that works (HandBrake) shows:
Track #0: H.264 / AVC / MPEG-4 AVC / MPEG-4 part 10
1920x1080 16:9 yuv420p 29.97fps
Track #1: AAC (Advanced Audio Coding)
stereo und 163.747kbps
The one that doesn't shows:
Track #0: H.264 / AVC / MPEG-4 AVC / MPEG-4 part 10
1920x1080 16:9 yuv420p 29.97fps
Track #1: AAC (Advanced Audio Coding)
stereo und 127.999kbps
Track #2: Motion JPEG
1280x716 320:179 yuvj420p unknown fps
Can you click Settings > Support > Submit Diagnostics in the app immediately after attempting playback without video
Done.
Aman, need anything further?
The software you're using to download from YouTube is doing a poor job of creating mp4 files. It puts the entire audio in the file first, then all the video. You have to remux these files to make them playable in Channels.
OK. Thanks much.
