Localhost refused to connect

I just upgraded my HHD in my mid-2009 Macbook Pro to a SHD. After restoring from a time machine back-up the Channels DVR restarted after the first reboot. However, after a short time it stopped. Now I get a “localhost refused to connect” error. I have uninstall the DVR and reinstalled multiple times (and reboots) and tried to restart my Xfinity modem and tried to force port 8089 open in the modem. Still getting the error.

Any suggestions?

Do you see a TV icon up in the menu bar (where the wifi settings and clock are)?

Run these commands in Terminal.app and post the output:

pidof channels-dvr
tail -15 channels-dvr/data/channels-dvr.log

Aman,
The TV Icon appeared briefly after the first reboot, then disappeared. I successfully initialized the DVR at this time but I was never able to get Bonjour to work. The TV Icon then disappeared and I have been getting “Localhost refused to connect” ever since.

Below is the Terminal.app out put based on:
pidof channels-dvr
tail -15 channels-dvr/data/channels-dvr.log

Based on the log I figured it is something with the Channels DVR files.

I uninstalled the DVR and then deleted the Channels DVR files. I then reinstalled. I am now downloading guide data and everything seems ok.

Thanks. It looks like your guide database did not restore cleanly. I recommend a clean reinstall:

  1. uninstall DVR from Terminal

./channels-dvr/uninstall.sh

  1. delete channels-dvr directory in Finder

  2. run installer again

  3. during setup, select your recordings folder and then click the “restore settings and recordings” option that appears in the blue box

This helped me too! I upgraded my HDD, restored from TM, got this error and had to uninstall/reinstall too.
