It is very annoying that if I reboot my server I am logged out from my phone and my parents house. If this is supposed to cost 8 dollars a month, logging in should be easier!
I don’t experience being logged out on a server reboot. Perhaps you have other issues if you need to reboot all the time.
I have never experienced this. You must have some configuration that differs from the default.
In short, this is not a result of an issue with Channels, but rather some other setting or interfering software.
I was trying to get multi-want to work with channels and reverted to plugging in a single lan connection. it works fine on server but remote connection was logged out. Plex does NOT have this issue.
For remote connections Plex uses its own cloud infrastructure, but Channels does not. (Channels simply gives your instance a unique FQDN, which is different from Plex.)
As has been mentioned in another thread, multi-WAN isn't really a thing. Also, Channels is not Plex. You are conflating things which are not equivalent.
Multiwan is a thing. If a buffer was split into packages and reassembled by client multiple connections could be used (like internet download manager does)
Me neither.
I'm gonna tell you again. Channels client connects to channels server on a single ip and port. THERE IS NO WAY TO UTILIZE A MULTIWAN LOAD BALANCING CONFIGURATION IN THIS SETUP.
Plus you were just struggling with how to do a simple port forward the other day. Get the basics down before you try to do advanced configurations. Listen to people who have more experience. When they tell you it is not possible, don't post here when it doesn't work saying that it should.
Your clients are probably getting logged out because your DVR server's IP is changing trying to flip between two WANs?
Channels is designed for personal use at home and when traveling. It's not designed for sharing, so it is expected you will have problems if that's what you're trying to achieve.
I decided to plug original connection in, and it logged me out of other devices
Multi-wan. IS NOT GOING TO WORK WELL WOTH CHANNELS. I have already gone down this road. I spent a crap load of time trying to get it to work a long time ago.
Load balancing: Splitting internet connections between two WAN. But each program can only use 1 of the two connections. This would benefit if 1 person was using Channels and another watching youtube. One person would connect to wan1 the other to wan2. It will NOT split 1 connection between two WAN.
Bonding: Uses a remote server between you and outside world. Essentially a VPN. And often requires specialty hardware. How this works is the remote server with super fast ISP downloads content. Splits it between two connections, sends it to you and your hardware reassembled it into 1 stream. A conpany called speedify attempts to do this. It only kinda works. If it worked as advertised, everyone would use speedify to combine their wifi and cellular. However it creates way to many issues. That's why it's niche.
If your hellbent on bonding check out mushroomnetworks.com. You will spend a fortune to combine 2 isp into 1. Its much much cheaper to just increase your bandwidth.
Back when I attempted load balancing Wifi + Cellular modem. This is what I experienced. Its why I gave up. When I tried speedify a long time ago. It really helped with youtube. But so many sites block VPN about 1/3 of my tv stations only sometimes worked. It was to unreliable. And thats when speedify worked (it often did not work at all)
I dont think I have ever been logged out from doing stuff on local network. When I attempted remote streaming and used a load balancer, i came across many problems. So if your being logged out, its probably some settings on your computer.
