Login to Remote DVR problems with ATV

I have been using Remote DVR on my IOS devices successfully and I see that I can enable/login to the remote DVR on my two ATV 4Ks. I suppose if I travel I could bring one along and remotely access content.

The problem I have is that I am given web link to auhorize access and this doesn’t work. I try http://192.168.1.27:5400/auth and this web link is not recognized. I get the msg that safari can not connect to the server.

I tried both atv 4ks and I get the same symptom. I am on WiFi on the same local WiFi network.

That doesn’t look right. It should be using port 57000

The IP should match the IP assigned to your ATV, and the link will only work while the Channels app is open.

I stand corrected that it should have been 192.168.1.27:5700/auth but I get the same symptom. I have the channel app open and am looking at the remote DVR access instruction with the ok button.

The IP address of the ATV 4 k is 192.168.1.27 connected via Ethernet.

Hmm, that’s strange. Can you ping that IP? Can you visit http://192.168.1.27:57000

Maybe try a different browser?

I tried my MacBook with safari , chrome and Firefox and got msgs that server not found , dns address not found and server not responding.

I can ping that ip address.

I’m not sure… sounds like maybe your WiFi is not allowing peer to peer communication. Are you at home or using some public/hotel wifi?

Maybe try “telnet 192.168.1.27 8089” to see if it is able to connect

rrr. I don’t think telnet is available on high Sierra.

Not sure that this mattered. I unplugged by main router, rebooted the router and went through the procedure again on one of my ATV 4K. I was successful to get the auth screen and after the 2nd attempt I was able to login remotely.

I tried to repeat the procedure and I was able to get the auth screen but I was never able to login the 2nd ATV. If I hit the ok button and went back to the setting screen, I would get an ssl error and nothing would happen on the auth screen on the ATV 4K.

I powered up from sleep my 2nd ATV 4K this morning; Started the login in to remote and was able to login successfully the first time. So, I have two that are enabled for remote login but I can’t tell why it works sometimes and not others.

I am also having the same issues.
