After updating to the latest ATV beta, I’m receiving a “Lost Connection” message after about 10-15 minutes of watching. This is happening on multiple channels and I haven’t ruled out a network issue but don’t seem to be having trouble with Netflix, Hulu, etc. I will continue to try and troubleshoot, just wanted to post here in case I’m not alone.
Submitted diagnostic logs. The tuner shows as available in the HDHomeRun web status page at the same time the Lost Connection message shows up so seems like the tuner is being dropped.
I have experienced the “Lost Connection” message and in my situation it is/was network related.
I had two ATV4s using Channels to watch the Olympics (same station) within viewing distance of each other. One ATV had a direct wired network connection to the main network switch while the 2nd ATV had a wired network connection through my router. No problem with two ATVs running the Channels App until I started a ftp of approximately 20 GIG to a USB3 drive connected to my router. After starting the ftp, the ATV connected to the router started to freeze and within 5-10 seconds it displayed the “Lost Connection” message. Channels app wired directly through main switch didn’t skip a beat. After ftp completed I was able to restart Channels app and everything was OK.
It seems like my router can’t handle the MPEG2 data stream while reading large amounts of data from the USB drive. It’s a reasonably new AC router with a decent dual core CPU, so I expect some of the problems folks are experiencing with Channels maybe network related. I plan to move the ATV connected to my main router to a direct switch run to eliminate this contention issue.
I just got the lost connection error. Had been watching the olympics for a while though. Switching to my second Prime did not fix it. Had to restart the app. My ATV is wired to a NetGear 24port GB switch.
Do you have one of those 2-in-1 prime models?
I see the cause of the Lost Connection errors, will be fixed in next build.
Yes, rack mounted 6 tuner. I have had to replace the power supply twice. It is on a ups now so hope that helps a bit.
Thanks for the fast updates.
