Lost recordings

While migrating to a new server I forgot to take a database backup so had to use an almost 24hrs old copy. Does this make the recordings (on an external drive) from the last 24hrs untrackable?

Will they ever be deleted? Is there a way to bring them back under the management of the DVR?

Move them to imports

How do I find them?

Look at your settings screen under DVR Database. It shows the storage path of your recordings.

It is hard to find files that are not linked to the DB ... maybe you can sort by created date in explorer... and look for recordings by date... in that missing 24 hour period.

It would be nice if you could see the files in the web ui and then decide what to do with them. It is possible to accumulate a lot of junk if not properly tracked.

This is how to get the list of all files managed by DVR

$ curl -sS http://127.0.0.1:8089/dvr/files | jq '.[].Path'

Now to compare it to what is actually on disk and delete it. I have about 130 extra .mpg files

Emptying trash

$ curl -X PUT 127.0.0.1:8089/dvr/trash/empty
