Love the New DVR Tab in 7.14.2014 Update

Just want to say the the new DVR tab design is nice. In this tab, can you please also show how much space the TV recordings have taken currently? This info is nice to have too. Not sure if this is too much work.

Yeah I’m still not sure about it. In terms of immediate benefit of switching to the tab, now it only gives me my storage info which for me isn’t relevant really with my terabyte hard drive. I liked seeing the scheduled recordings right away in the old view. I would like the new view better if the main view had more relevancy, maybe some of the universal DVR settings from the web view. And not sure why the “subscription: active” statement is there… wouldn’t I not even see the DVR sections of the app if my subscription wasn’t active?

So my vote goes to putting the new info like the profile pic and the storage info in the settings view instead of the DVR tab.

maybe some of the universal DVR settings

Maybe combine the best of both? Move the season pass button above the scheduled recordings. The make the schedule records scroll below. There you get to see today’s schedule and the upper part stays stationary. No click to get to the schedule just scroll down. Passes you don’t go in as frequently so you click and go to the next screen.

I like the look of the new DVR screen. Been waiting for the storage indicator. On my disk, I have only 135GB free on my 256GB default drive, which is about 19 hrs for me. Would love to see some estimate of recording time along with the free space. I don’t know about everybody else, but it looks like I’m averaging about 7gig/hour for my recordings. Disk space means nothing to nontechnical users like my mom, saying 19hrs remaining does.

I expect that additional functionality Is coming to the screen in relationship to my subscription because the subscription is given a lot of real estate for what it gives back.

My CC did get replaced last month and it caused a bunch of havoc for subscriptions like this, so the indicator is a +

I hadn’t thought about it before (how could anyone give this up!) but if I canceled my subscription or it expired, it would be good if I could still watch my old recordings, if I could turn on/off my subscription from here, cool.

I think that the web interface is beautiful and very functional, but I would much prefer to do all my interaction with the dvr from the tvOS and iOS clients, and look towards parity with the web. I don’t know how many of my questions were answered by tmm telling me to use the web interface  If this is leading to managing my dvr from this interface, im all for that.

Personally, I’d prefer to keep the DVR settings on the web page or, if in the client, locked nicely away by a password. I really don’t need a casual user or one of the kids changing how the DVR is setup.

That said, i do like the direction the new DVR tab is going. I could do without my ugly mug on the screen though!

I do like the idea of bringing more of the data out of the web page to the tvOS, but I too have thought that the web page should have at least a pin on the settings that would break the dvr.

I like the web for DVR setup, log gathering. I have also used it for remote viewing, but I hope that functionality gets rolled into the iOS client in the future.

the ONLY thing I don’t like. The forum picture showing up… Can we make that optional???

More info the better. This opens up the possibility of including IP address of DVR engine detected and version of engine on either the DVR tab or to a secondary page (more DVR engine details) like uptime/etc off the tab.

…and a clock. I think people want clocks everywhere…
