M3U - Problems while adding new source

Hi,
Just signed up for trial but right from the start hit problems with adding either of my two m3u sources. It just says Invalid source URL, (Client.Timeout exceeded while awaiting headers). The url works in my Apple TV in the current app I use there. Meaning, the problem lies within the channels DVR.

How can I solve this?

You may need to use the text option. Otherwise you haven’t included any where near enough information for people to help. An example of your failing url would help.

Its a standard m3u link consisting of url:port/get.php?username=xxx&password=xxx&type=m3u_plus&output=ts

Does this help?

It’s timing out because the response time of your provider is too slow. You’re probably entering its m3u directly which is megabytes of text, which isn’t supported anyways.

Channels DVR Server will only accept the first 750 channels, per the documentation.

You’re going to need to use a tool to trim down your channels list from your provider.

Hi there,

Download the m3u in a browser using the URL you were provided.
Open the downloaded meu file in text edit.
Select the stuff you are interested and add the URLs as text. Make sure to following the formating.
After the urls you want are added, Click save and choose manage line-up and map the newly added channels.
All the Stream URLS will contain your generated user and password as prt of the URL with a 4 didit number.
The process is tiring but it works.
Do not load those m3u links in Emby. The software will choke.
Fine tune your playlist using a tool like Noltepad on windows and or Textedit on Mac.
The search function works great.

Yes, do it this way. It is much better to have 20 channels than choke the system with trying to load 10,000 and displaying the first 500.

You can use a website like m3u4u.com to help trim down your playlist file as well.
