Macbook Lid

Looking to use a MacBook Air (old one, but it works) as a DVR. Is there any software that will keep the MacBook "active" when the screen lid is closed? Thx

I haven't done this in long time, but I'm pretty sure Amphetamine does this. I generally use it just to keep it awake while I'm working on things and don't want it to go to sleep and keep the lid open.

You must have an external keyboard/mouse attached along with an external display for this to work: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201834

I used to use this all the time to keep my mac awake when the lid was closed https://insomniax.en.softonic.com/mac

edit: idk it still works here's another link https://www.reddit.com/r/mac/comments/9asv8d/alternatives_to_insomniax_for_high_sierra_macos/

I am hitting this issue too. I have an old macbook pro with a broken keyboard - perfect as a dvr server. However, ive tried a number of things to prevent it from going to sleep while closed to no avail. Maybe there is a dongle available to plug into it to make it think that there is a external monitor, For now, i just need to keep it open with the display off.
