interesting. macOS 26 is getting native support for Linux containers:
and it's fully open source:
Makes it more worth it to get a Mac with features like this. The price is a bit too steep tho to justify using it as a server pc tho

Nice! Hopefully this will eventually make Docker Desktop less VMish and more efficient!
I currently have my CDVR and all containers running on a Synology DS224+. I think it is running fine, but looking to add more remote streaming clients soon. With that, I was thinking of moving my CDVR to a mac mini M4. Would you all recommend I leave the containers on the DS224+ and just move the CDVR to the mac mini? or move it all? or wait until macos 26 tahoe is released for the mac mini and then migrate it all?
You probably don't want to run Channels in Docker on the Mac because you won't get hardware transcoding. But I have an M4 Mac mini with the Channels DVR app installed, and it works great! Transcoding is fast and smooth. And commercial detection takes seconds for an hour show.
Thanks for the reply Mike. Just so I understand correctly. It would be best to leave my Tubi/SamsungTV+/Pluto/etc containers running on the Synology, and just run the CDVR installer on the mac mini (instead of installing CDVR in a docker container on the mac mini)? Is that basically your setup?
In my setup, I moved everything to the Mac Mini. CDVR directly on the machine through the installer, and Pluto and other containers in Docker Desktop. I moved everything off my Synology 918+ and now use it only as a backup appliance. The hardware is old and slow, and they seem to have no interest offering new options with improved hardware. But that's a complaint for another thread!
Having said that, I don't think it will make much of a difference where you are running those containers. They aren't doing any streaming or recording, they are just providing data to CDVR. I think the locations of your containers would be more of a preference than a requirement.
