March madness pass on cbs

How do i setup a recording pass for CBS ncaa tournament? I don't want to have to set up each individual game

Thanks

The metadata for the games don’t have anything special. But you could set a pass for NCAA Basketball, then limit to the channels that participate and require the Live tag.

CBS, TNT, TBS, and TruTV.

This would prevent the NIT games from recording.

It looks like all the airings have these words in them “2022 NCAA Basketball Tournament” so you could do an advanced pass with that term.

Here’s what the pass looks like as I described it. It looks like it handles all the games.

First create a Series Pass for NCAA Basketball by searching for it snd making a pass. Then edit the pass with the advanced editor.

I set mine just by searching the guide. The pass is named “ 2022 NCAA Basketball Tournament”

I think it would be awesome if we had an advanced editor for the live channel collections as well. That way, we could have a live channel collection that’s only ncaa basketball, or mlb baseball, or college football, etc.

You do. When you create a Channel Collection, you have an option to add "Automatic Channels" to the collection, which are dynamic channels based upon rules and criteria you determine; they mimic the built-in dynamic channel categories, but are more powerful.

Correct, but what I am asking is I wish we had the ability fine tune within the genres using tags, title, etc. when adding an automatic channel as we now can when using the advanced editor when setting up recording passes. For instance, if I add an automatic channel for basketball....I get all live basketball; NCAA, NIT and NBA. I wish we had the ability, like using an advanced editor, where I could add just NCAA basketball, or MLB baseball (instead of all baseball), or NFL (instead of all football) when creating an automatic channel.

Did an automatic channel collection using Basketball and a Live Tag and it isn't pulling anything. Does this work for anyone? Since its just 4 channels, I may just force them.

Sorry, Didn't realize this was IOS and TVos only. I was looking at an android client.

Were there any channels airing live basketball content when you checked? Automatic channels only filter based upon what is airing at the moment.

(And as you noted, only Apple clients support automatic channels at the moment.)

I checked on an iOS client and it was working fine.. It was just the android that wasn't showing up.
Thanks

Thanks for the responses. But still issues/questions:

Related to Maddox's responses:

First, I was attempting to setup passes on my iPad or AppleTV - where there is no capability to "fine tune" settings with advanced settings.

I'm running Channels DVR Server on a Synology NAS running the latest version 6 software. I've been exploring the options under the DVR tab but I'm still not clear on how this relates to Maddox's points above:

"The metadata..." - I don't see where to look at the metadata connected to a show in the guide.

"CBS, TNT, TBS and TruTV" I'm using Sling to watch all but CBS [OTA] but it looks like the Turner channels aren't available via Channels.

I have searched for "2022 NCAA Men's ..." and have started to create the series pass. There is a Channel field that I do not know how to fill - is it CBS or 4.1/5.1 [the OTA channels I get] or some other code that I don't see?

When I go into the advanced settings for that pass and put in "4.1" for channel [the local OTA channel] and then look at the "find airings" I see listings for not only 4.1 but 5.1 [another OTA CBS channel] and a variety of ESPN channels for the NIT. I assume this is not the same as scheduled recordings?

I've figured out how to schedule this [I think] but another question - I've got a Women's NCAA pass which shows 63 airings but 43 recordings. Is this because the DR server "recordings" only counts the number in the next 2 weeks [or something like this]?
