Can someone please explain the difference between these options? Neither appears unless the episode is in the guide, so the result is the same: episode re-recorded. Ideally, "mark as not recorded" would be in the library, so you wouldn't have to watch the guide for it to reappear again.
OliveTin-for-Channels includes an Action to re-record anything in your library by File ID. Maybe this would work for you?
That does look helpful. Unfortunately, my head starts to swim whenever I look into those types of add-ons. I got Docker working almost in spite of myself, and I'm reluctant to do more with it until I actually understand what I'm doing, lol.
Mark as not recorded does what it says. It makes Channels DVR "forget" it recorded it, so a pass can re-record it.
Record again will find the next airing in the guide and select it manually for recording, just like if you found the airing in the guide and selected to record that one airing. The problem I encounter with this method is that if the guide data changes before it records, it will not update the scheduled recording like it would from a pass.
I find it best to Mark as not recorded for that reason.
@dizzy Thank you for raising that question. It's something I've been curious about as well.
@chDVRuser Thank you for the explanation!
