Menu timeout to Live TV

I've scoured the setting and support but can't find a single mention of a timeout to return to Live TV when there has been no interaction with a menu for a certain amount of time. I'm pretty sure every TV and set top box I've ever owned does this as image burn-in prevention.

Here's the scenario - you're watching a recording, fall asleep and the recording finishes. Most UIs will, after a defined period of time, revert to live TV. However Channels leaves the program page up indefinitely which either causes the TV screensaver to kick in or image burn-in.

Surely this can't be hard to implement? If this can be done, please make the timeout duration configurable so we can ensure it cuts in before TV screensaver.

Thank you!

Reverting to live TV from the menu is not something we'd ever do as it takes up unnecessary resources, especially in the case you gave.

While I understand your example, this just isn't a TV set top box. Can you imagine if the Netflix app just started playing videos because you were idle too long (besides in their terrible menus ).

If your concern is burn in, I would suggest you turn the screen saver option on in the tvOS system settings, as this is what it's there for.

you can do these types of automatons with home assistant and the channels api. if you're more skilled you can skip home assistant.

i ensure one of my TVs is always playing if detected as idle and randomly play from a pool of channels.
