Merge movies

Can I merge a strmlnk and and an MP4 in the library and then have a selection for which to use? If so, how?

This is not a feature yet. Devs have said it is on the roadmap, no timetable though.

Hmm, what would be the use case for this? If you have the MP4 file in your library, why would you also want a strmlnk? Just curious.

Use the strmlnk because of quality. Use the MP4 in case the strmlnk URL is removed by the streaming service.

Agree with @meitis, but I'm also thinking more generically. If a movie ends up on multiple sources, right now it would be separate entries instead of having just one entry where you can pick which one you want to play from. This is one of the few areas where TiVO actually has a superior solution.

Also, sometimes I may literally forget I have a file version and create a stream link, only to discover both. Or it could go the other way where I have a stream link but also schedule a recording because I want the local version. In either case, I end up with two or more versions of the same program. And having more than one means more management for the labeling I use for it to auto-populate collections.

Another thing is remote streaming. If you don't have great upload speeds of there is some type of hiccup going on, streaming from Netflix is going to be far better than attempting a file through Channels.
