Merge two dvr's

i recently setup a new channels dvr on my synology which has recorded some things over the past few weeks and i'm going to move from my pi4 install over.

is there a way to merge the two systems recordings and database? or is it have one or the other not both?

i had moved some shows over but found now way to make it "discover" them on the new dvr

There's no merge. That's not how it works, and you cannot add your own files into TV or Movies folders.

But you can add into the Imports folder if you want and do it that way.

if i move the files over can i then do a restore from the first dvr's database?

You can, but it won't merge.

Thanks mostly just trying to keep the passes which I should get via the restore

That will work, but it will forget about the recordings made on the new DVR. So I would move those mpg files somewhere else first, then start clean and import your Pi DVR. Then you can move the few newer recordings into Imports
