Missing Show on Home Screen

I currently have 3 episodes of 'ABC World News Tonight' in my library including tonight's. The show has disappeared from all sections of 'Home' ('What's Next', 'Recently Updated' and 'TV Shows') on the Channels App on my Apple TV. The only way I can find the show is by going into the 'Recordings' and scrolling through the list or searching in search.

This appears to only happen on my Apple TV. It is showing up properly on both the Web UI and Channels on my iphone.

I tried restarting the app and Clearing Disk Cache but neither helped. I submited diagnositics.

Sounds like you turned the News Section on.

On the side bar? Yes I did. That makes news shows not show up on the Home Screen anymore? Or in the 'Shows' section?

Removing the news section didn't seem to help on Apple TV and with it on it 'worked' on my iPhone.

I see in the docs this is intended behavior so I removed both the news and sports sections but the show still isn't showing up.

I now realize sports I recorded are also not showing up. Now that I've removed those sections from the sidebar how do I get the shows to start showing up again in the library?

I figured out this wasn't caused by the 'News' and 'Sports' sections in the Side bar its the 'News' and 'Sports' sections in the Library. Which I didn't realized was a different setting and which I had turned on in the client settings on my Apple TV and not the other clients.

Those sections seem cool because they provide a quick way to also see what is airing live quickly. It would be nice to have a preference to include News and Sports in 'Up Next' and 'Recently Updated' when those sections are on.

I'm sure there is some logic behind the design but it seems counter intuitive that those things would be restricted to certain types of content. My preference would be to see 'everything' on the Home Screen and then use the sections to filter down if I need to.

Look into Personal Sections

That looks cool.

Playing around trying to create a Smart Rule for Content Type 'TV Shows' and the Smart Rule Editor doesn't seem to let me pick 'Catergory' as a Criteria. How would you create a filter for 'Sports'?

For some reason 'Categories' doesn't appear to be an option in the Smart Rules Editor. To build a smart rule to select all Recordings of Sports shows I had to use the advanced Editor and do:

sourcetype=Recordings categories=Sports

After figuring out how to recreate the Sports section I realized that was unnecessary and all I needed to do was create a Personal Section using the 'Home' Template and add the existing Sports section to the Button Row.

@maddox If I replace the stock 'Home' section with my custom 'Home' section in the global settings it won't work on non ios/tvos clients, right? I have a mixture of ios, tvos and Android clients. Is there anyway to specify a global config for the side bar per client type? Or is the best I can do manually override the global sidebar settings for each Android client and add back the 'stock' home section?
