MLB.TV for Channels

I originally had the logos external when I first released the container, but we moved them inside because it was causing issues. to be honest I don't remember exactly what issues since it was 3 years ago, but they were definitely originally external links before being included as a part of the container.

just food for thought before you go messing with external logos. I'll see if I can go back thru my notes and figure out exactly what the issue was and why we moved them inside to begin with...

From memory i think people where having trouble with them displaying from outside there home network ?

has anyone successfully run this container on Linux running on an M1 Mac? I get a platform mismatch and can't seem to get around it

I got it going on Unraid, which is basically Linux but the hardware is not Mac.

Is that an Arm processor in it? I can run it just fine under macOS on the same machine but not in a Linux VM under parallels.

Nope, just an x86 processor.

Ok thanks. I guess this is a weird sort of setup right now being Linux ARM64. I tried buildx but ran out of talent getting that working lol

This would be awesome! Were you still thinking about including mlbn?

By the way huge kudos for this! I love being able to watch any game commercial free. I never use the actual MLB.tv app.

So how does this work now with the Padres? I can log into MLB.tv and watch the Padres games (I am local and have paid for local rights through MLB.tv) but cannot tune in via For Channels. I always get the Blackout restriction.
I have it as a Docker on my Unraid and have restarted it there. Also restarted channels server. Still pulling in Blackout. I pull it up in my phone via channels and it's Blackout. Pull up the MLB.tv app and it plays. What am I doing wrong? Do I need to recreate the container?

I set up E+ so it seems that the MLB.TV For channels is the issue or else I am missing something.

Just an FYI, I recreated the docker and the Custom Channel and same issue.

And in Browser

Not in the padres area but I was wondering that as well. This may start affecting 4 other clubs too. My assumption would have been that if you have it through mlb.tv and can watch it through mlb.tv then the blackouts wouldnt matter because it logs in with your credentials.

Do you have to go to a special page on mlb.tv or can you just click on the padres game like you would any other game?

I just click on the Padres game. I can get it on E+ but the MLB For Channels is not working.

Hi there, i think the MLB TV app that was originally used with Channels would need to be updated because the stream URL was changed when the Padres were dropped.
I did switch over to the ESPN+ docker that includes the MLB.
The stream changed when the URL was updated. Games will only be available in Channels when events are live. See the following link. I love the arrangement.
Alternative docker for using the MLBTV

Best of luck.

Hi! QQ for the group. I can't seem to get my instance to remove commercials specifically for MLB games via the docker. I'm running the latest version via docker in Unraid.

I just tried to manually scan a game from last night and will report back on results. Any information I can share log wise that could help?

Thanks!

Comskip doesn’t work with recordings from mlb container.

You can run this command in terminal so it won’t try and needlessly use resources

curl -XPUT ://server.ip.address:8089/comskip/ignore/channel/777

Change 777 to channel of your recording

Thanks for the quick reply. Bummed the skip doesn't work, but I'll use the CURL command.

Seems to be working now for me.

if the docker container is telling you / channels that the game is blacked out, there's nothing i can do. i don't control that, it comes directly from the MLB API. the container grabs the stream URL from the API, and the API won't give you access to the stream if you're in a blackout zone.

it's not a matter of me changing the URL, it's a matter of MLB sending the correct URL and removing the blackout restrictions. if they say you're blacked out and they won't allow access to the stream, there's no way i can get around that.

as i've said time after time in this thread, i cannot and will not support bypassing blackout restrictions. if the E+ container can do it or wants to support it, that's up to them. i just hope they don't get API access to the streams shut down for all of us.

theoretically, if MLB has it set up correctly, it should just work. i only get the stream for a game when someone clicks on the channel to request it.

when a channel is opened, the container hits the MLB API and says "hey, is a game active?" if the answer is yes, then it goes back and says "okay, give me the stream so i can watch it." it's at this point where MLB looks at your connection and determines however they determine whether or not you're in a blackout region. if not, it gives you access to the stream. if you're in a blackout region, it tells you so and then channels loads the blackout message.

i would imagine MLB should have updated this when they took over the padres broadcasts, but i'm not in the SD market so i have no way of determining that for certain. i'm already in the clear based on my zip code.
