Move from Internal to External

Moving DVR from internal disk on iMac to external for more space.

I understand I copy the entire Directory over, Change the settings to point to New external directory however is there something I also need to do with a “restore” command or is the directory move all it takes?

Restore is only when installing on a new computer.

For the same computer move is all you need.
