Moving channels to a new server

Should work.
Just do a restore when you start the new unraid docker and then make sure to point it to the dvr folder.
May have to refresh guide data, not sure if that's now automatic on a move.
Might also have to rescan TVE channels if you use them.

Only things that wouldn't come over is any personal local imports outside of the dvr folder.

Thank you - it's now running on Unraid - the key is doing the restore - for future reference, if you have a copy of all of the dvr folders, the backups are in there and can be used to transfer channels to a new machine without performing a manual backup on the old machine first (in case that machine becomes unavailable) but the restore point may be a day or two old depending on how often the files were copied

Can I move the folder to be restored to a Thumb drive and then restore from there? I have a new mini computer and over powered desktop that I am currently using and I would like to free it up. However I only have one monitor so I can't see what I am doing, so I was thing of copying to a Thumb drive and the restore from there.

You could use remote desktop to connect to the mini PC and work with it that way with SMB shares. I do that here with two other systems, one Linux and one win 11 from my main win 11 PC.
@weberman more detail/information on what you want to do would be helpful in giving a more detailed answer.
Are you moving storage locations? Is storage internal or external? what OS are we working with etc.

What's a DS?

Wow, this is an old thread! DS = Synology DiskStation NAS.

In the years since this thread, I took my Channels DVR installation (along with lots of other stuff) and moved it off of the antiquated DS hardware and onto a Mac Mini M4.

If you're trying to move your Channels to a new server, use this:
