Hi
I am currently running the DVR on a Synology 214se, it’s been adequate but no transcoding. So now I have purchased an inexpensive 7th i5 laptop to serve as my media server and I’ve installed the DVR app on it, but when I go to restore and point it in the location of the database it shows all the backup folders but they all say (0 passes 0 recordings). I would think it should show 29 passes and over 200 recordings because that is what I have.
Hmm that’s strange. So it does show the backups but it thinks they are empty?
What OS is running on the laptop?
Did you copy/move the files over? Sounds like it could be a file permissions issue.
After going to the restore page, check /log to see if any errors are shown.
Thanks for getting back!
Which files do I move over to the new install?
It sounds like you already did something if you’re seeing the backup folder on the laptop. I’m asking if you copied or moved or something else.
I didn’t move anything, I installed the new dvr on the windows machine, then did the restore and when it asked where the backup was located I pointed it in the direction of the backup but nothing moves over. I did see in the log about “access being denied”
So you’re pointing the windows DVR at your NAS share?
Please copy paste the exact error shown in the logs.

Yes I’m pointing the windows to the NAS share
Oh and new install is Windows 10
It sounds like your mount doesn’t have any permissions to read the files. You probably need to change the share permissions or connect as a different user.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, wasn’t able to find any permissions that were wrong. I ended up just plugging the external drive into the laptop and was able to restore everything.
