Moving to Windows 11 PC

I currently run ChannelsDVR on a Windows 7 PC, which is starting to have some hardware problem. I just ordered a new Windows 11 PC as its replacement.

Any tips on running under Windows 11 vs 7?

For example: I removed the login screen on my Windows 7 PC, so when it powers on, everything auto starts.

I run the Channels server on a Windows 11 system. You do not need to log in to start the Channels server after it is installed. Channels provides an app that will install it as a service so it will start at power on. It works really well. I haven't had any problems at all.

Same here, no problems now.
At first I had the Win 11 laptop set to go to sleep after 15 minutes.
Every now and them I would have a problem with connecting or something, can't remember... not sure if it was the sleeping causing that.
After a Channels developer assured me the laptop should NOT go to sleep, and I changed that Power option, those problems have not reappeared.
I also had a problem updating to a new Beta version, Channels update could not rename a folder.
I checked on line and there was a know bug regarding permissions on renaming,
I rigged it and got it to update.
Months later I wanted to update to a Beta version again, worked perfectly as it should have.
One of the Win 11 updates must have fixed it.

Do you both run channels as a service?

On the Windows 7 PC I do not run Channels as a service. Instead, I just have it start when the PC powers on.

Yes, I use the Channels Setup app to run it as a service. It is the simplest way to make it run at power on. I have used the Task Scheduler to set it up to run at power on, but that is not as simple. I am using the Task Scheduler to run Plex and Emby at startup, still comparing their features. Tried to use Plex and Emby for my HDHomerun DVR, but Channels is just the best by far. My server runs Windows 11 pro which allows me to use my desktop to connect remotely for administration.
