MyCloudEX2Ultra

Can I set this as a option to have shield server download to it? It is not seen when I try to select it. Shield and NAS are hardwired and I can see the NAS with all my other devices over the network.

Why not run Channels DVR Server on your MyCloudEX2Ultra

Is it because you have TVE sources?

I do, I have a HDHR with antenna and dish and YouTube TV accounts. Is there any benefit to running it in my NAS and Shield?

Since the EX2Ultra is a low end NAS, I wasn't sure if this note applied to the EX2Ultra

Install Notes

Due to the architecture, the My Cloud EX2 series does not support the TV Everywhere feature.

And the Nvidia Shield is no longer supported as a server

No Longer Supported

Channels DVR Server for Nvidia SHIELD is no longer supported. It will remain available to download and install, and will receive updates for now, but is no longer eligible for technical support. Availability could be removed at any time.

Yeah I believe it does. So far shield is working fine but I wanted to explore option to replace it. Would make it easier if I could use the Nas to record to though. I currently have a 4 TB SSD attached to shield though.. may look into a mini PC to run server and connect SSD to that.

Yeah...you're gonna need another computer to run Channel. Maybe a NUC can do...

Do you think that is why I can't see my NAS as a option to download to. I was thinking of getting a mini PC to set up server on. That is all I would use it for. I have a 4 TB SSD currently connected to the shield and a 4 TB NAS if I can figure out how to download to it anyway.

Honestly, a NAS is overrated. That's why I recommend a real computer or something small like a NUC. A powerful system that you could install Channels with ease without any nonsense. You could repurpose those hard drives too as external drives if you want.

Nvidia Shield is a beefy Android TV device. I wouldn't use it for a server PC and as I said, a NAS is overrated
