MyEntertainment Pack
This is a regular streaming service from Directv that has 60+ channels plus Locals, NO sports, $35.
It says you login via the Directv app.
Has anyone tried this (I know it won't bring the Locals into CDVR).
The only locals available via TVE on Channels will be ABC and CBS. Fox TVE is hit or miss unless you have Fox one but you will need to use additional ad ons with Channels DVR.
Actually after further review it seems that even the actual MyEntertainment Pack App does NOT have locals...
even tho the add hints that it does.
"Local Channels, Teams and Regional Sports Network: Not available in select areas. "
Not in ANY areas says DirecTV.
But yes, not brought into CDVR anyway.
I have been using MyEntertainment Pack, but it costs me $35 and doesn't include locals. But it does include Hulu, Disney, and HBO Max access, all with ads. They also have a News package that includes locals, and it is $40. The TVE access is good. The DirecTV app gives you unlimited DVR and they include many extra free channels. I think it is one of the best deals, if you don't need extra sports.
Thanks for the NO LOCALS confirmation.
I have a friend that doesn't need Sports
t sounded great... until it didn't.
If you figure that it costs about $20-25 (or more)for any streaming service to carry Locals it doesn't make sense.
Say its $25, That would mean it only costs about $10 for all the rest of the channels !!!!
I use an antenna for locals, so the MyEntertainment pack provides all the channels my wife requires. And has the cable news channels that I like to watch occasionally. I use Playon with the Hulu, Disney, and HBO Max services when I want to watch something without commercials.
I have the DirecTV MyEntertainment pack. I added the MyCinema pack to it for TCM and a few other movie channels. It's a great deal if you're not a sports guy.
I'm not in an area where I can use an antenna for local channels, and haven't much need for them. However, even though the DTV package does NOT include local channels at all, I actually DO get my local CBS channel (KCBS-Los Angeles) into CDVR by TV Everywhere. I have no idea if this will work for everyone. But, so far, it's working for me. If I need local news for an emergency situation, there's plenty of free resources for that.
If you want locals and entertainment just get the signature pack.
$49.99 before taxes for the first month then you can pay $79.99 in my area.
You get ESPN unlimited plus hulu, disney plus bundle included.
I looked at conbining my news and my entertainment and Signature pack is just a little more.
It’s an excellent deal if you live somewhere you can get your locals OTA, and yes, the TVE access is good. If you also need sports, ESPN Unlimited isn’t badly priced. (And be sure to check your credit cards for offers — mine gives me $10/month off of ESPN.)
My local CBS is working in the CDVR app for WOWK. Also works with the CBS app using the DirecTV credential.
I think I'd just get YTTV for $82 and have it all for $2 more.
Back to square one!!
I think most local stations now have an App for their Live News broadcasts, some with Replay ability.
So there's that, no Prime time or afternoon programming.... which is mostly garbage IMHO.
So you use the antenna within CDVR via HDhomerun?
Do All the entertainment pack channels come in via TVE?
Yes, I use a HDHomerun tuner with Channels for my locals.
I get 115 channels using my DirecTV source, of course about half are not something I would watch. I do get a few extra, because I have the Movie pack addon. Some channels are not available anymore using Channels DVR TVE.
any tve capable channels do, there are some included channels not tve, but there are workarounds for cdvr, I use ah4c, but others use adbtuner
ADBTuner is a great solution.
I've got two Android boxes that work very well.
I never managed to get ADBTuner working well with DTV. I understand that some of the new changes implemented by @turtletank have made some big improvements since I was fiddling around a few months ago.
@rpaulmerrell, Which ADBTuner configuration(s) are you using for your non-TVE DirecTV channels? Have you overcome the "are you still watching" problem? What channel change/tuner response times are you getting?
