Hi, I am running a Synology DS218+ NAS and running Channels as a package on the NAS. I want to replace the 2x HDDs with 2x SSDs. Best I can tell, Synology wants me to create a new storage pool, then migrate the data from HDD pool to SSD pool. I think that means I need to install Channels on the new SSD storage pool. Once I install Channels onto the new SSD storage pool, how do I migrate recordings to the new pool and how do I tell the Channels DVR server which was just installed onto the SSD pool to find the recordings once I migrate them to the SSD pool?
Sounds like you drives HDD are in RAID 1. If your SSDs will be the same size or larger, the procedure for most systems (I don't have Synology experience) would be to power down. Replace one of the HDD with an SSD, then power up and follow the rebuild procedure. Once the rebuild is complete, do the same for the second HDD. That is all that's necessary.
Have fun!

Synology won't let me add SSD to a volume with HDD. I need to set up a new volume for SSD. Do I need to install Channels onto new SSD volume and somehow import recordings from HDD volume that will eventually go away?
To be safe, you could copy the channels DB to another location (and if you have recordings, you will need to move/copy them as well).
You can see how to do these steps at:
Make sure you use SHR and just not raid 1
Thanks. Will try soon!
Thanks all. The above process was successful and thanks for the SHR tip. I'm an extreme fast-forward sports watcher with Channels. I record baseball and fast forward after each pitch and before the HDD to SSD upgrade, and if channels was recording a few other programs, this fast forward process was choppy. these new SSDs were well worth the money and effort to make the change.
