NBC TVE Audio not working

Strange issue with NBC TVE - video works but audio does not. Curiously, I was able to hear the audio when playing back a recorded file off my NAS with VLC, but do not hear sound when playback via the Channels Android app or browser interface. I've only noticed this for NBC TVE channel, others are working with sound. I'm on the latest Pre-Release.

This is consistently found in the logs when attempted via the browser -
[HLS] ffmpeg: ch6000-dANY-ip192.168.1.100-remux: [mpegts @ 0x582c9c0] Could not find codec parameters for stream 1 (Audio: ac3 (AC-3 / 0x332D4341), 0 channels, fltp): unspecified sample rate

Please submit diagnostics from the DVR.

TVE doesn't use AC3 so something weird is going on.

Can you make a recording off that channel, then go find it and see what View Details shows for the audio/video information.

Are you able to watch that recording and hear sound in Channels?

No, cannot hear the sound, but video is good.

Okay start a recording, wait one minute, then go to DVR > Schedule and stop the recording. Submit diagnostics, then email [email protected] with the recorded mpg file

Please try with v2021.08.13.0100. It should work in the browser.

Fixes also going out to beta apps for playback.

Confirmed that the new build is working in browser! Thanks for handling this so quickly. Will look for the new app versions. Curious what issue was introduced?

The feed for your affiliate is technically off-spec. The headers indicate both AAC and AC3 at the same time which is confusing the software.

I’m having the exact same issue with the NBC affiliate in the Washington DC area. No audio at all. One other thing: when I start to stream this channel, it immediately shows me a still from what was “live” at the time, but then it takes about 1 minute for the video to actually start, and when it does it has no audio. I sent you my logs ( 0eae32c4-ce31-4256-836f-bda4ab25098c). Thanks in advance.

Does it work with the beta apps?

Installed beta app on my Shield and the issue is resolved! Great work to identify and fix so quickly! No wonder this feature has to be in experimental with so many variables to deal with.

I didn’t even know you guys had beta apps. Is there a page with instructions on how to download your beta iOS and tvOS apps? Thanks!

Remember, beta requests for Apple clients must be made from an iPhone/iPad, even for the tvOS betas. (Clicking through in a web browser on your computer won't work. If you have an Apple TV but no iPhone/iPad, you must submit your request to [email protected].)

I have this same problem with NBC TVE over the last few days. Video records fine but no audio at all.

The NBC stream also seems to take a while to load when selecting it via the guide on the channels app.

Any solutions?
