Need help finding correct show ID for import

I have imported Lupin and it can't find a match. Can someone use their magic to get the correct show ID to correct it? Here is the IMDB info for it: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2531336/

Thanks!

TL;DR, you can use Zap2It to get the TMSID, except it doesn't show up there either. But the program does show up in Gracenote's demo database (that does not show TMSIDs), so there is a disconnect between our front-end providers and the back-end data provider.

The search API we use doesn't work for non-English names. I guess Lupin is French in this case.

I will follow up with Gracenote and ask them to look up the ID.

I guess TMDB is only in Channels DVR for matching Imported Movies?

Correct. At the moment that is the only alternate metadata source available, and only for movies, not TV shows.

The developers have expressed interest in allowing sidecar NFO files, which would not only allow for more control over imported content, but also allow for arbitrary/home movies.

Here it is: SH037105560000

Thanks!

Mmmmmmm... that's problematic and could explain some of my non-matches, but not every one. Unless this falls under "Japanese" despite using English letters:

Can the API be changed or swapped out for one that does all search across non-English names?

Or perhaps they could add a tvdb api?

Well enough people have requested that (me included) and it is proven to work with Movies that it seems like there is some technical or legal reason it is not being done with TV Shows yet, so I'm just trying to find a reasonable middle ground compromise in the meanwhile.

They use tmdb (The Movie Database) to match movies.
tvdb is The TV Database for TV Shows.

TMDB has TV Shows, too.

But I'm not married to any source and if one is better than the other or it is easier to only pay for one, whatever it is, I don't care. I've found plenty of problems and gaps in each one and in everything else that is similar. Metadata issues are just my #1 pet peeve.

Agree. That's why I haven't imported all my movies and shows into Channels.

For any Channels recordings I make that I want to archive, I have it create a MCEBuddy metadata json file and modify that to correct/add info, rename the recorded file, then strip ads out.
