I'm looking for an alternative as my server since the Shield Pro hasn't been dependable lately. I just installed the DVR server on my old Netgear ReadyNAS Pro 4 and it seems to be working. Before I fully commit, what kind of performance should I expect from this? I rarely ever remote stream, but I would like to have the ability to if I need it. The DVR settings recognize the CPU as 4 cores / Intel Atom D510 @ 1.66Ghz with 981MB of RAM with 55% free. Any thoughts with this setup?
I don't have one, but know that it won't do hardware transcode. And software transcode will probably struggle, but there might be some lower res content that will work with a single stream.
Atom won’t transcode in real-time. Probably just fine for everything else.
