The new one Is 4K Max but that is a good deal.
Yep, this one is only "newer" due to updated remote buttons, it appears. Either way, this stick runs channels like a champ. The Max (on sale at $34.99) is likely even better.
Actually, I'm having significantly more complete crashes/freezes on the 'new 4k max' than I ever had with the straight 4k stick. I don't believe it's an issue with Channels DVR but rather with the new 4k max stick itself. I'd say a full crash to a frozen black screen once every 3 or 4 days in hard operation.

Even the regular Fire TV Stick 4K has been known to have the occasional freeze or crash, but not if you power it down after every use. Mine is powered from the TV, so shuts off and starts up with it. I've never had a problem with that one.
On the other hand, one of my Insignia "Fire TV Edition" TV sets needs to be manually restarted at least once a month to avoid problems. The TV apparently only goes on standby when I hit the power button, so to truly restart I need to drill down into the Fire menu.
