New Buffering Problems

I have been a casual Channel user for quite awhile and been a huge fan. Recently, I had a need to use it more regularly. I discovered that I was seeing a great number of stalls and buffering problems. Within the house was fine, but over the Internet was very sketchy. I checked my upstream rates and they were fine, around 8 Mbps. I read the forums, but didn't find a good answer. I dug into the settings and all I did was change the playback rate down to 4 Mbps and it works great! Now I'm thrilled with the operation, but shouldn't the client detect these conditions and manage its own rates through adaptive streaming? Are there any other settings I should tweak?

You might want to think about bumping up your upstream bandwidth if you can honestly. 8mbit is pretty low. Transcoding is fine but make sure you have the processing power to accommodate
