This it getting so old, I have to go into settings and cancel out new channels every day. Is there a setting disable ChannsDVR from adding new channels to the guide all the time?
Wow, this is so strange. First time I've heard of this.
Which version of the server are you running?
What are your sources?
Do you see this on the client only or also in the live guide on the server?
It’s not channels adding them, it’s your hdhomerun. Channels just sees new additions from the hdhr.
This has nothing to do with Channels; this is coming from your HDHR. It is picking them up while running a re-scan and then passing on to Channels.
They might be doing some antenna work in your market or environmental conditions might be creating conditions that allow extraneous signals to leak over. Just mark them for exclusion and they'll stay gone:
Also, if you run a rescan on the HDHR, they may just go away. Time of day of the scan can make a big difference.
Another option is you could just create a Channel Collection. If you do that, nothing will get added automatically to your station list without your say-so:
Good idea! I think channel collections don't get enough love.
It has everything to do with Channels. Just because the tuner picks up new channels doesn't mean ChannelsDVR has to add them to the guide. All there has to be is a checkbox, "don't add new channels to the Guide". That logic would be very easy to add.
Lets put it this way, it doesnt happen in Plex.
That latest stable release. This has been going on for two years, so it has nothing to do with the ChannelsDVR version.
As was suggested below, by using Channel Collections, you will accomplish exactly this. It means you have a set list of channels that will never be disrupted.
Channels will continue to reflect the channels found by your HDHomeRun. We have no plans to add a setting to stop referencing it, as this will only cause confusing mysterious headaches eventually.
It really has nothing to do with the HDhomeRun adding channels it picks up channels that are scanned with the background HDhomeRun app even though they are not added to the HDHomerun web page.
They are added to the clients but not added to the server. I have to keep syncing the tuners in the clients to the source then they go away.
Don’t have this issue cause I don’t use the All channels category on the guide. All the channels I care about is set to favorite so only those show in the guide when sorted by Favorites. I occasionally check my hdhr and it adds a few of those weird detected channels every so often. No idea why it like it pickup ghost broadcasts and thinks it’s a new channel but can’t identify it. Those things are very sensitive. I just disable those channels in the hdhr when I see them.
But they are not in the HDHR web page they exist only in the clients. That is why I had to setup my own collection with all Channels.
Can’t tell by the screenshot it to pixelated on my phone but tve channels start at 6000? Yes? Those look like 5000? Which are HDHR I thought.
It also could be one of your source providers that adds new channels. Back when I had comcast and prime tuner they would add duplicates of channel sets fairly often and that would show up if show all channels in the guide was selected.
I just did a scan of my tuners and it picked up TCV11 that is no where to be found on any of my tuners .... It is picking up channels that are being scanned even though they cannot be tuned....
5000’s are atsc3 test channels. Just X them out on the actual hdhr lineup and they won’t show up in channels
Did you see my screenshots above the tuners in the Clients have a mind of their own
I can keep scanning my unused tuners and channels will pop up randomly in the client guide but not in the source. Here is another good example just did another scan and the clients picked up a few more analog channels...
In my experience they will pop up once and I’ll X them out never to be seen again. Channels remembers even if they are there or not on rescans. I guess it’s different for you
As you can see, they do not appear on the server only the Clients get those fake channels.... The Clients do not require the server to get its channels they connect directly to the tuners so you can watch without tuners sharing.... so during a scan it thinks those channels being scanned are active.
