New Pluto Channels

Is there a way to identify new channels that appear on Pluto within Channels DVR?

The only work around I can think of is to disable all channels I don't want and to favorite the ones I do want. Then any new channels would show up without either disabled/favorite enabled.

Not easily. You could write some kind of script to regularly pull the channel list and look for changes, but it wouldn’t be trivial.

Now you have me thinking. I will take a look at that.

This is exactly what I already do for all sources; works fine with minimal muss! The only warning I'll give is that the new channels can show up anywhere in the order, so you have to eagle eye it.

I sat down last night and started to create a script to accomplish this. Not trivial at all but do-able. I'm not a software developer (been 20+ years) but I have a script that works. I'll work on it some more tonight and do testing.

I've done something with collections that might interest you with regard to this.

For a long time now I've wanted my guide to list our most used channels at the top and then all of the rest. So, now with collections I've done that. I created a channel collection called 'Everything' in it I have 8-10 channels that are listed at the top of our guide which is then followed by the remainder of our channels in alphabetic order by channel name. This collection is our default guide.

How does collections help with new Pluto channels? As each channel is added to a collection it is then grayed out in the list. This means that whenever Pluto or any other provider adds a new channel it is not grayed out in the list. So, a simple visual scan every now and then of that collection looking for non-grayed out channels shows me what was recently added.
