New Program but Guide always says it the same

There is a new program I'd like to record every day but the guide always shows the program as created June 2, 2020. I have an advanced pass with "Re-record deleted episodes" checked and tried it with Keep "All" and "Last 1 Only" but it always indicates that the episode has already been recorded. I want it to work without it depending on me deleting it every day because I miss watching and deleting it sometimes.

Is there a way to get this to work?

What channel and show is this, and from what kind of source?

The First channel. Bill O'Reilly: No Spin News. The channel is provided by a Pluto M3U from the docker app.

I believe the Pluto channels don’t provide the unique episode ids for each airing, so channels thinks they are all the same. I’m not sure if there is a workaround for this currently, somebody else may be able to chime in with more info.

I record other pluto channel programs just fine.

So there is no way to regularly record a program like this?

As an alternative is there a way to set it up as a scheduled manual recording?

Please share the <programme entry for these episodes from the xmltv file

Thanks for asking. Found one:

Are potential duplicate recordings a better alternative?
It looks like the Pluto json for episode-num is pretty much garbage (always 1,2 or 3) so I changed the xml generator to plug in a random number instead. Setting a pass for O'Reilly then set two scheduled recordings for today.

That would work but what about when this happens in another case? Special case programming creates a can of worms.

I would have thought that setting Re-record deleted episodes and Keep Last 1 Only could have worked depending how keeping the last one only is defined.

Yes It would be better to have duplicates that could be removed. That's what dish and DirecTV do in their dvrs. When in doubt record. The program Strange Inheritance on the Fox Business Channel is also notorious for not having good guide data and the dupes get recorded on dish and dtv.

Agreed...this would be a workaround.

Maybe the best solution would be to have 3 recording options

New episodes
Missing episodes (same as current All episodes)
All episodes (new option that records everything even if a dup)
