upgraded my router this evening. not sure where to start, so i'll start small and simply say, i can't get the my.channelsdvr.net link to work.
On the dvr settings page set Remote Access to Manual and back to Automatic
already did that about 100 times. not sure what i did but i was finally able to get my Channels apps on my iPad and iPhone to connect to the Remote DVR, going to my.channelsdvr.net in a browser on the iPad and iPhone will properly redirect me to my DVR status page, but only if i'm doing it over cellular, but not if i'm on my local network. same issue on my laptop when on the local network
That means your new router doesn't support hairpin nat. There might be a setting for it called loop back.
if that's the case, what other issues might i expect to see happening, if any, that i need to be concerned about?
it's an Arris SURFboard mAX AX11000
thanks
It doesn't really matter since you only need that url when not at home.
what about my device connections to my DVR from my Apple TVs and iPhones and iPads. are they connecting to the DVR directly behind my router, or is there some flaky connection they have going on that's "relaying" out onto the internet and then back in? if that question doesn't make sense forgive me, i'm half asleep at the moment
It has no effect on your home network. Everything will work as you expect.
ok, great. thanks for the quick attention this evening
