Hi there. I just started a new Channels server on a raspberry pi after using it on a Mac for a year. The raspberry pi keeps going offline, can you help me troubleshoot? Periodically I open the channels app on my phone to check if a show is recording and the server can’t be reached. So I unplug the pi and plug it back in to bring it back online. This happens a couple times per day. Any ideas? Thanks.
When this happens, are you able to load the DVR web UI on http://192.168.0.59:8089
Or does it show an error? What is the error? What are the lights on the Pi doing when it stops responding?
Can you also open http://192.168.0.59:8089 now and click Support > Submit Diagnostics
Diagnostics submitted.
I’ve only tried to reach the server by name (DVR-server), not by IP number, but I get a page not found error. The pi lights are solid red and solid green when this happens.
Thank you for your help.
Tom
Hmm nothing stands out in the logs..
Do you have a microHDMI you can attach to see if there's errors on the screen when it stops responding?
Does just unplugging the ethernet and plugging it back in help?
Next time please try connecting by IP because I think there are some known issues where after a while the dvr-server hostname can stop responding.
Thank you for looking. I don’t have a micro hdmi, but I’ll get one if it keeps up. I’ll try that with the Ethernet and ip as well. Thanks again.
More “server cannot be reached” errors today, so I picked up a microHDMI cable today. I plugged it in when the lights were solid ref and solid green, but the display said “no signal.” So I unplugged the power to the pi, watched it boot up onscreen, and the server was available again after the reboot.
