Would this be a good option for a new server setup?

Would it be better to upgrade the internal SSD or use an external drive?

I have been using a Shield as my server but it looks to have failed over the weekend and is no longer connecting, even though its showing as running on screen.

This will work fine for channels. I believe it has a second M2 drive up to 2gig.

I find using an external USB is the best for quick recovery ... can be plugged in to any other PC as long as they have a USB port... and restored from it.

If you have an always on computer or a NAS, connecting to storage via a network share (SMB) is another wonderful option. This also makes for very quick recovery if you need to change the server.
