New Synology NAS

Can the new Synology NAS with the AMD chip without imbedded graphics still playback and transcode Channels DVR files? Should I stay with an older model that has an Intel Celeron that I know works with Channels DVR?

There's no hardware transcode capability on 1522+

I asked the same question a few weeks ago. Someone posted some helpful Youtube video reviews of that device. I'd say it should be fine for today's needs, but with ATSC 3.0 and possible 4k streams at some point in the future, not sure this would be future proof (just don't know if that time horizon is 2 years or 7 years).

I will use the NAS for Channels DVR, run Homebridge, Time Machine backups, possibly run Plex. Very frustrating that all the new Synology NAS are being shipped with AMD chips without the ability to transcode. Hence my dilemma of 920+ instead of the newer versions coming out later this year or early next year. The 920+ at $549 is no bargain for 2 plus year old technology. Don’t want to try another brand NAS as I think DSM is superior and I’m experienced with it. Oh well. I do appreciate your reply. Thx
