Newbie DVR Recording Settings

Hello, I just subscribed today and in the process of setting up my DVR Recordings. Is there no way to customize the recordings schedule?
I was using the Plex DVR before I signed up for this and was able to select what channel I want to record because I want to record my shows on the HD channels and not SD ones. I also was able to select what time I want to record my shows as they may come on a few times a day. Example: I record a show at 2pm every day and on some days it is on twice but I only want to record the 2pm one every day and never record the 11am one.

When I setup the series pass it is not giving me the option to not record the 11am one, it is going to record all and that is not what I want.

Hi Gail

On Channels DVR you can use the “advanced” pass options available on the web ui…to set many different options, Channel, time, series ID, Title, etc. by equals (==), contains and more.

Be sure that at least one condition is set to ==.

Access web ui via any web browser: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8089/admin/dvr/rules …where xxx, etc. is the ip address of your server.
Click on down arrow of the pass you want to modify
Click on gear (Advanced)
Add your conditions

You can even see the shows that match your criteria by clicking on “matches X airings”

Be sure to click “Save” when satisfied.

This is one of the most powerful features of Channels DVR…AFAIK, no other solution has this capability.

For example, I have a daily (weekday) show which I only want to record on Thurs am… Perfect match on Channels…only have that show recorded. It sometimes can take a bit of experimentation, but doable.

Thank you, I didn’t know I would see other setting when logging in to the URL. This is going to take some time to get use to. Is there any place you know of where I can view the settings options, like a help guide on the rules that can be created?

No help guide yet :pensive:

Try this:

https://community.getchannels.com/search?q=Advanced

Which is the page which appears on forum when requesting a search on “Advanced”. Be sure to also press the down arrow (more), as there is one more match (has some good info).

Oops, that link takes you to full listing…”no more needed”.
