Newbie Question: Stripe?

I just installed a HDHomeRun Prime with a CableCard and it’s working great.

I thought I’d give the DVR beta a try but I needed to create an account here first here with my email address. No problem.

When I click ‘Start Subscription’ I received a text to my phone with a Stripe verification code. When I entered it, it already had my credit card info. My question is: how? I did not give Channels my phone number, nor do I have a Stripe account. How was my credit card info presented to me?

Secondly, I can’t find any account management for Channels. If I sign up for the beta is it easy to cancel?

Appreciate any info.

Stripe is the payment processor that we use. They are very popular and many websites use them.

I haven’t seen the behavior you mentioned before… could be its some new feature but I can’t find anything about it on their website. What number was the text message from? Did you have to enter the verification code on our website?

Account management options appear on the same page once you subscribe. You can hit cancel at anytime and it won’t bill you again.

The text was from 787-473.

After some digging I remembered buying something from a street vendor several months ago and I think he used Stripe. I entered my cc and phone number and received a receipt by text. That explains the connection with Stripe, my phone, and cc info but it still doesn’t explain how it knew it was me when I wanted to subscribe to Channels.

To answer your question: yes, a dialog box popped up and send we just texted a verification to . When I entered the verification code it then showed my email address and obscured cc info.
