So I am seeing all this hullabaloo about ATT/Directv dropping Newsmax, however I have both DirecTV proper and DirecTV Stream running into Channels via TVE and the channel is still available that way. Guess someone dropped the ball on that one. 
There is your new business opportunity Channels team. 
(That is unless it is ending up in my Channels guide via some other method I'm not aware of.)

That's what I thought. This is not part of DirecTV TVE because that would be a channel number in the range 6000-6333 (or so).
Channels from 6700 and up are free channels not linked to any TV provider.

Indeed! Stands even more strongly, as this means it's not an unintentional glitch.
This is indeed the case (as mentioned by others).
The fact that you can still stream it via their website for free is the reason that DirecTV did not renew their contract: Newsmax wanted DTV to pay them to carry the channel, and DTV refused because because they were offering their content to others for free.
