I read that Nick and Nick Jr are channels that do not have TVE, but Nick Jr is showing up and working just fine for me. Would it be possible to also get Nick working too?
Regular Nick does not have a live stream on their site, so it's unavailable in Channels.
Any idea where they are actually getting the live stream? I don't see anywhere on nick jr's website or app where you can watch a live feed...
The regular Nickelodeon channel does not have a TVE feed. However, there is a TVE feed of Nick Jr.
Whether or not you can receive the Nick Jr. TVE depends upon which cable/satellite/OTT provider you use. Not every service includes TVE access to Paramount (previously ViacomCBS) networks.
Yeah I get that. My TVE provider lists they have access to nick jr and it works through channels and everything, I just cant for the life of me figure out what actual website/url I can go to myself and watch the live stream of it through a browser or app and not just video/individual episode content. There is no live tv option on Nick jr's site after logging in with my provider. Doesnt make sense to me based on how I understand channels to work, so I am starting to assume known api endpoints (that regular people wouldn't know) are being used to generate the live stream hls url.
The same is true with AMC: there is no live option on their website, but the feed works within Channels.
If viewing Nickelodeon/Nick Jr. via their website is important to you, the only suggestion I can offer is that you contact their support.
The Nick Jr stream is having major deinterlacing artifact problems (something is misconfigured on their side.) Does anyone know which app's streams map to the TVE stream?
None. It is the website stream.
To check issues, use a web browser to login to the suspect network's site and attempt to stream live from there. If you encounter problems there, then Channels is hamstrung and cannot do anything until the network fixes their website feed.
Nick Jr is not the only one with this problem.
I first noticed it on VH-1, then MTV and CMT that I'm aware of. Oh and I think somebody else also mentioned Comedy Central recently.
I must admit that I've been lazy about it and never tried to report the issue to the networks themselves.
I'll see if I get the motivation to do it later.
I forgot that Paramount (previously ViacomCBS) did not post the live feed link on the Nick Jr. website.
Those are all Paramount networks, so this would seem to indicate the problem is with their website streaming infrastructure as a whole, and not something related to Channels.
(Edit: @chDVRuser why don't you keep snarky responses to the involved parties. Yes, Paramount does not put the live stream URL on the website for Nick Jr., but your un-asked-for comment added nothing to the discussion. And as I noted, a subsequent post noted that this issue is prevalent across multiple Paramount network websites, implying a more systemic issue.)
I will let the self proclaimed expert continue the discussion then.
Let me know when you find the url (and I won't give any hints on how to discover it, you should know)
I apologize. I forgot my age, and that negative responses need to be paired with affirmations and participation awards.
Thank you for joining the conversation, and I appreciate the insights you added to this discussion. Your voice has been heard, and is welcomed to the circle.
Ok. So after that interstitial ...
At the top of this thread we talked about how there is a stream but it's not on the website. When I tried to report the problem, they asked me where I am getting the stream from (which app). I am sure they would have no idea what I am talking about if I said the TVE stream in channels.
Given that it's not published, I am wondering if the URL comes from finding it out of another app, and then I can report that.
That said, now that we know it's a problem across properties, maybe we just report the others with known stream locations, and that should catch this issue too. This was a problem with NBCU about a year ago too before they upgraded all of their infrastructure to 1080p.
I'm curious too about the actual stream for Nick Jr.
You may have seen that I created a new thread about the bad links on getchannels.com:
Bad "Check Availability" links for Nick Jr on getchannels.com
Hopefully, the devs will see it and fix the links on their website.
Once the links are known, maybe you can just reply to them that it is the TV Everywhere streams and provide the links.
Let's see what information the devs can provide.
Paramount hasn't written back yet.
