No audio after changing channels. force close app fixes

I setup a Shield TV in my Living room for my mother to use.
It is using a HDHR Prime as one source, and TVE as another.
TV is a older Vizio with a newer VIZIO sound bar connected to the TV via Toslink.

She keep having the channel audio stop working as she closes out if the channel stream and goes to the Guide to see was is on, then chooses another chan to watch. All channels, TVE included play but with no audio.

The Shield system audio, the boop noises are there and other apps like Hulu have audio fine, only Channels app has no stream audio.

I have tried setting the Surround Sound Option in Channels to Off (was on) no change.
I have also set the Shield audio settings to never use Surround, or to use just Auto and this also has no effect on Channels.

I has happened 2x in the last few days. This is after hours of watching tv fine with no issues including changing channels. The sever log shows nothing of interest, the channel stats are 100% and transcode is none.

The only way to restore the channel audio is to go into the system settings, and force close the app. then reopen and audio works again.

I am not able to reproduce this issue on my own Shield, however, i am no where near the channel flipper she is.

Very strange. You can submit diagnostics from the app after this happens.

how does one do that?

nevermind i see that option in the app now. i just accidental sent one in under other for my own shield. woudl be nice if u had a confirmation dialog come up to confirm i want to send in something.

there also is not option for Audio issues.
