No longer able to access remotely on PC

Been a user for 2.5 years and this has never happened...

The scenario:

I can access the server using the PC the program is on
I can access the server using my Iphone and the channel app (both on my home wi-fi)and also outside my home).

What I am unable to do is connect via PC/laptop in my home on same network (one PC is ethernet only, the laptop is Wi-Fi only) and the HTPC is also ethernet.

The chrome tab opens, waits 20 seconds, then states that it took too long to respond.
I don't recall changing any settings,

any hints or tips on why/how to fix is greatly appreciated

Are you using the server ip local address in the browser( ie 192.168.1.x:8089 or similar), or are you trying to connect using the address my.channelsdvr.net ?

Have you changed routers lately?

no change in router or modem,

When i try to connect on a different PC, it is trying to connect to

https://98c835041f53.u.channelsdvr.net:8089/admin/settings

it used to work for over 2 years this way.
Maybe it has something to so with public/private network settings. I know Ive done the port forwarding successfully before, But I can double check that

While you are on your home LAN try connecting with the actual ip of the server. You can find this easily by using the actual server machine under dvr web ui browser, settings, status, net interfaces. Use that ip in a browser followed by an :8089 on one of the laptops that isn’t connecting.

Does it connect this way?

yes, It did connect this way on my WIfi laptop as well as the PC ii am currently on,

should I just bookmark THIS as my shortcut now?

I tried using my cell phone as a wi-fi hotspot to simulate being off my home network, but im having ussd getting that set up

Yes use this when on your home LAN network. However this bookmark will not work when you are not connected from your home network.

When remote you will need to use the my.channelsdvr.net which will forward you to this one you mentioned above

It seems your router supported hairpin NAT sometimes called loop back NAT in the past but it’s not working anymore. You could research your router and this function and possibly figure out why you can no longer use the old bookmarked address. I guess it’s possible your router updated without you knowing and changed something in regards to hairpin NAT.

it took a LONG time (where chrome timed out) but after 20 seconds, I was able to get to the server on the laptop though my cell phone hot spot (verizon) -

when i go to office and i am hard wired there, i'll check in again... but for now, this refresh has everything working as intended again

thank you

remote connection via laptop at work was successful.

Thank you again
