No Network Detected (Randomly)

Greetings,

I have had the Channels Aplication and my HDHomerun Extend working flawlessly for quite sometime wireless over my 5G network.

Recently I updated to the new TVOS and updated the firmware and I get random “No Network Detected” which stops the feed.

A simple menu back and and select channel appears to work.

I have tried to reset my apple tv with updated os.

I’m not sure if this has something to do with the new TVos or the firmware itself since those were the only things changed.

I’m not sure what else I can do on my end…

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Where are you seeing this message? What else is on the screen at the time?

AFAIK we don’t have the message “No Network Detected” anywhere in our app…

If you’re seeing it at the top right of the TV in a black box, then that might be coming from tvOS itself and indicates that your network connection is unstable. Maybe something is interfering with your Wi-Fi signals.

I will look into it a bit more; this only happens while in the channels application…

I’ll try to roll back my routers firmware and see if that changes

Seems to be working now!

I was using a third party router firmware. switched back to updated asus firmware and all seems good now.

Unfortunately, the problem is persisting still with new updated ASUS firmware

I guess I’ll wait till Apple releases the next tv os update or maybe I’ll download the new beta

I still haven’t figured this out…

My setup worked perfectly for over a year until firmware update to hdhomerun and tvOS update

Going to try to post the question with hdhomerun

I do have another 5ghz router that I can try.

It sounds like your router is failing.

HDHR streaming uses a lot more bandwidth compared to anything else in your house, so it’s possible that extra traffic is triggering some bug or other issue on your router.

This has been happening to me a lot lately, too. It happened even before I switched to the new Apple TV 4k. I don’t lose connection on any other devices either.

Your prob right, it’s a really high end router so I’m hoping not…

I’ve been meaning to switch out for an older router to see if the problem is still there.

What router is it? Maybe there’s s firmware update

Asus

Yes I updated firmware, problem still exists

It so weird the video pauses for like 1 second, then no network detected for 1 second, then back

I’ve tried everything but rolling back hdhomerun firmware

Is it possible to roll back firmware on hdhomerun? Can’t find any docs on it?

Release 20170930: newest hdhomerun firmware

Detect transport errors in padding frames.
Improvements to IGMP handling.
HDHR5 models: Official release firmware.
HDTC models: Add IGMPv3 support so UPnP works with enterprise-class network switches.
CC/DC models: Upgrade IGMP support from v2 to v3.

Maybe igmp handling is getting messed up? I have the hdtc extend

You could email [email protected]

There is no way to downgrade firmware though

One thing you could try is to add a static dhcp reservation for your hdhomerun

I have a ASUS AC3200 and have not had any issues

I prob have played with every wireless setting, but I have yet to do the dhcp reservation. I just set it! well see

Might go pick up one of those new duo’s at best buy and see if the issue is indeed the device

I think you can mark this as solved.

I attached an older netgear router and all is good

I have a pretty expensive asus paper weight. :joy: lol

I should have just switched them out at first, but I didn’t want to believe it…

Thanks for the help! Your app is one of the best!

You could try installing Tomato or Asus-Merlin custom firmware on that router to see if it helps.

Asus support may be able to help as well

Yes, I had asus-Merlin

I’ll wait a few months and try again

I have had this problem too, thinking its a tvOS problem, but it seems to occur more so with the channels app.
I beta test TVOS and of late I have not seen the error. I know its not a channels app problem because I have seen the error
with other apps running…

What type of router?

I switched to an older netgear and have not had the same issue.
