No option to get NVidia Shield app for Free?

I love Channels and I happily pay annually because it's just that good! I just purchased an Nvidia shield TV Pro and in the Google Play store the Channels App is $24.99. The Channels DVR app is listed as no charge but the "normal" Channels App is $24.99. How do I get my "free" version of the app for my Nvidia Shield?
I am only using it on the Nvidia shield as a player. I am NOT going to be using the shield as the DVR itself.

There is no free APP if you do not subscribe to the DVR.

Then download the Channesl DVR app it is free. That is the one you want.

I thought the DVR app is only for setting up the DVR only

@upssnowman there are two Channels client apps. The $25 app called "Channels: Live TV" is for people who do not subscribe to the DVR service. It is only improves the live TV experience. You want the free app for people who do subscribe: "Channels: Whole Home DVR", which despite the name is not the same as "Channels DVR Server".
