I installed the Channels DVR on an Ubuntu 18.04 server with the latest beta release. I'm not seeing an option to change to hardware transcoding, it is only showing "Software" for the transcoding. I have an Intel I5-3470 and it supports quicksync so I would think I would see an option to select hardware transcoding. What must I do to get hardware transcoding on my I5-3470 on Ubuntu 18.04 server?
You need to ensure that the user running Channels has permissions to the /dev/dri devices. Usually this is the video group.
(On my system I run Channels as channels; to ensure that user is part of the video group, I used sudo usermod -aG video channels, then restarted the Channels service with sudo systemctl restart channels-dvr.)

That was the issue. I added my user to the video group and then the option for hardware transcoding showed up on the settings page. Thanks!
