Notification for TVE authorization failure?

At some point, at least with some channels, your TVE login will “time out” and require you to log back in. I have only been able to discover when this happens by noticing that a program didn’t record and by that point I will usually have missed several recordings on the channel.

Instead of having to actively monitor the success of scheduled recordings, is there any way to have Channels notify the user when its attempt to record a channel fails for an authorization issue, giving you the opportunity to fix the problem before more recordings are missed?

Thanks for any help.

for me, it would give a full screen error when you tried to tune to one of the affected TVE channels.

Thanks. I’ve noticed that behavior as well and it’s helpful.

But I guess what I would be hoping for is something that doesn’t require me to discover that I need to reauthorize my TVE for a particular channel. It would be ideal if Channels itself would notify me so the issue could be fixed before I stumble on to it on my own.

It is notifying you of the issue. The server won't know that there is an issue until it actually tries to authenticate and load a channel... A user has to do that in the case of live TV.

In the case of a preset recording that ends up failing... Yes it would be nice if the server somehow would alert you to that. But unlike Emby, That has a plug-in where you can enable notifications via an app...channels DVR has no such notifications capability. You would have to check the server web UI under the recordings to see if it says failed or delayed or whatever status tag.

It would be cool — and perhaps easier and have a wider appeal — if the failures of any type could be exposed to Home Assistant. From there we could easily script a notification via whatever means we choose.
