Number input or skip in grid guide?

I love the new grid guide!!..but would like to be able to more quickly make it through the 100s of channels listed. Number input would be the ideal solution, but the only way to do that is with a keyboard (until Apple allows logitech to emulate a keyboard with the harmony hubs or allows HDMI-CEC input from the televisions). Another way would be to list 10s (10,20,30,40,etc) to the screen left or right of the guide categories…and maybe even 100s as an additional menu layer. Also, allowing the end of the guide list access from the beginning of it…push up when on channel 2 of the guide would take you to the last channel in the guide.

Just some thoughts. There may be a better design solution out there.

With the Siri remote you can use momentum scroll to get through the list pretty quickly. I guess you’re using an IR remote so you have to move through it one row at a time?

Traditional STBs use page-up/down to alleviate this, but AFAIK there’s no way for us to detect when those buttons are pressed even if the remote you’re using has them.

Yep…using harmony home.

I have a Harmony Smart Contol that we use for the primary remote. Having number input is pretty important to my wife. before I got the new appletv, the Harmony connected via bluetooth to the older appletv 2. tvOS 9.2 added bluetooth keyboard support to the appletv4, so not sure why harmony can’t take advantage of that.
